Hurricane Ian forces Disney parks to close for the first time in 5 years

This is the first time that the world's most visited theme park has closed for weather reasons since 2017.

Hurricane Ian is already on its way to the US state of Florida, after passing through Cuba, where it left 11.2 million inhabitants without electricity on Tuesday night. In anticipation, Disney parks have decided to close by the end of this week.

Located in the iconic city of Orlando, in central Florida, the parks announced on their website that they will have to close on these days to ensure the safety of employees and visitors.

This is the first time that the world's most visited theme park has closed for weather reasons since 2017 with Storm Irma.

However, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has already declared a state of emergency in all 67 counties of the US state before the arrival of the storm that, according to forecasts cited by the New York Post, could hit Florida, this Wednesday, with winds of 225 km per hour, according to authorities.

In addition to the closure of infrastructures such as Disney, around 2.5 million residents were also advised to evacuate.
